Here’s how it worked: these folks would call you, claiming to be from your bank’s super important “action fraud team” (sounds legit, right?). They’d lay it on thick with a fake accent, freaking you out about some made-up fraud on your account. Feeling panicked? That’s exactly what they wanted.
Then, they’d smooth-talk you into spilling the beans – your account number, password, the whole kit and kaboodle. With that info in their pockets, they’d be off, draining your bank account faster than you can say “phishing scheme.” Not cool, dudes.
